When it comes to 2pac and biggie, if it wasn't for their rap careers, they probably wouldn't die. I might be biased though since I was introduced into the genre with him and it was a bit hard to get into Jay-z after Eminem. I just think that it is hard to stay mainstream with the style Em making and I feel like I gotta give man credit for that. I just think that being still number 28 in the world( according to spotify) just shows that Em beats Jay-z when it comes to longevity and there are really few artists if any can do that. Sounds and contents were pretty different and with first 3 albums, bar was very high too. I understand that you don't really dig Em's job after TES. Nas and Jay are hard for me because I love Nas, but Jay just has the better discography and longevity. So I don't really think too hard about em. Like if Em died after TES he would be undisputed GOAT. Honestly without those 3 initial albums, Em's discography is pretty much Logic level to me.Ģpac and biggie have the unfair advantage of dying early. Revival, Kamikaze, Encore, MTBMB A and B, Recovery just ugh. And since discography is the most important thing to me, Jay-Z wins for me. Afterwards, his albums never even touched the quality of that run. Em was pretty much top tier for just 3 years lol (99 to 2002). But discography I give to Jay-Z pretty handedly. For me, peak Em has better skill than Jay-Z and Em obviously had the bigger impact. I'm not a big Em guy, and his efforts since TES have been meh to straight bad. Personally I wouldn't place Em above Jay-Z, but that's just me.
